# Daily Inspiration: “With the right attitude, some of the best moments in your life have yet to happen!”

*“With the right attitude, some of the best moments in your life have yet to happen!”* – Futurist Jim Carroll

Attitude is everything!

Not really, but it is a massive part of the equation – action is a critical part of your recipe for success! With that combination, you might have everything you need.

At least, it works for me – and I remind myself of this every single day. These continue to be perilous times in terms of what comes next.

As a futurist, I surround myself with facts, immerse myself in science, and find my bedrock in logic. Everything is telling me that 2021 is pretty much a wash for any sort of return to normalcy. My future mind tells me that we will still be on a global path of struggle well into 2022. The pandemic is too all-encompassing, thrust upon a world that was ill-equipped to deal with it.

The result is that we are beset by complicated medical and transportation logistics, a society ripped  apart by misinformation, and a scientific reality that is offset by the desire of people to ‘*just get this thing over with*.’ These are not issues that are easily managed – indeed, they make our path forward far more difficult than most people realize.

For me, this makes it pretty much self-evident that the idea of returning to a stage as I did in my “previous life” this year is but a pipe dream, and that next year is also iffy. Oh, I continue to get offers from companies and speakers bureaus for engagements in the fall; I entertain them, but write in my Covid force-majeure clause, with full knowledge it will most likely have to be exercised.  All around me, I see event planners bubbling with excitement in the belief that the mere existence of vaccines means that society will suddenly, in a flash, return to where it was a year ago. (It won’t).

I am surrounded by people who fail to grasp the complex road that we find ourselves on. I sometimes want to scream at them the basics of reality – and then remind myself my best action is, in this case, no action at all.

When I think about these things, I have a brief moment of panic and feel myself potentially on the edge of despair.

But then I remind myself that I own my future – I am in control. With that in mind, I go down into the studio and work on my next show about reinvention, design another stage set, or experiment with a new camera angle. That brings me back – it ignites the oxygen of optimism that I know I have burning deep within my soul.

Because I am the one who gets to define what comes next – and I have the power to make it into something awesome!
