I’m on a stage this morning!

In a classroom!

In front of teachers!

Actually, I’m in my basement, in my studio, but I’ll have an audience of 500 teachers in Missouri in 10 locations, with a message about the future of education.

Obviously, this school year starts everywhere with a huge amount of stress, effort, angst, worry, anger, fear, terror. One of my main golfing buddies is a Grade 5 teacher – I know he and his wife, also a teacher, are terrified of what the future might bring.

It might seem to be an odd time to think about a future beyond the next month or two, but sometimes, we might need to force ourselves to think further. This particular school board is bringing me in for a virtual talk about our future – the world that the kids of today will work in tomorrow.

Most teachers are hugely passionate about their role – work with young people to prepare them for tomorrow. And in spite of all the uncertainty around us today with a return to school (for some) in the midst of a pandemic, and a continued march to distance-ed for others – the issue remains: this is all about the kids.

And as they do that – regardless of the format, the environment, the worry and concern – it might be helpful (and it might not hurt) for a brief moment to remember why they are doing what they do – to prepare young people for the world of tomorrow.

With that in mind, I’m going to show them – virtually – what the world of tomorrow will look like! Here’s a sneak peak.
