“Inertia is easy. So do the hard things first!” – Futurist  Jim Carroll

You know the saying – don’t take the easy way out!
Yesterday during my keynote in The Bahamas, I covered a vast number of the trends which will shape our world. Some people and organization will turn these trends into opportunities, and achieve great things. Others will sit back, long after a trend has had an impact and say, “wow, I missed out on that one!” Every day, you’ve got a choice – will you take on the big challenges that surround you, by making a conscious and deliberate decision to move forward? Or will you avoid it by deciding that it’s just too hard to do right now?

Take the concept of innovation – you can’t be lazy.! True innovation takes hard work. It involves massive cultural, organizational, structural change. It involves an organization and leadership team that is willing to try all kinds of radical and new ideas to deal with rapid change.
And it takes hard work to figure out exactly what to do, once you have an idea of where you are going! An innovative organization can’t innovate simply by jumping on a trend. Trying to do so is just trying to find an easy solution to deep, complex problems.

At a personal level, wow – it’s really easy to do nothing all the time, isn’t it. But have you ever really studied the successful people around you? We use the word ‘driven’ a lot of describe them – and they are. They’re in motion, moving, action oriented. They certainly don’t suffer from a lack of inertia!

Get out of your rut! Move forward! Get busy! Stop doing nothing – do something! Because for each every positive action, there is action!
