# Daily Inspiration: “Five words define your future. Hyperconnection. Acceleration. Exponentiation. Disruption. Transformation!”

When I’m not on stage, I’m often researching and preparing the material and insight I will use on stage.

Next week, I’ll be in San Francisco to speak to the CEO’s of the largest infrastructure and construction companies in the world. A pretty impressive lineup of individuals who know that their industry is in the midst of numerous significant trends.

I’ve been invited in to speak at dinner about these trends – and what they should do about them. I’ve got but 25 or 30 minutes – dinner talks are very different from morning keynotes. And so I’ve got to crystallize and focus my structure to fit – hence, the five words above.

Hyperconnetcion, because a defining trend of our time is that everything is plugging in through IoT technology. Acceleration, because trends happen faster. Exponentiation – as they accelerate, they reach a new type of critical mass sooner. Disruption – the impact is the emergence of new competitors, a challenge in the ways things are done, and changes in business models. And transformation – because in just 5 to 10 years, the industry will look nothing like what it looks like today.

Just 5 words – but words that carry a lot in terms of impact!
